Why am I blogging about a song?
Well, I’ve decided to spotlight folk music now and again for two reasons.
1. I LOVE folk music. It’s pretty much my favorite genre outside of worship music. And there are some really awesome artists and songs out there…so this is me sharin’ the love :]
2. Folk and bluegrass music really tie into my stories. It’s a common thread in most everything I write. And while it’s ever evolving, this song is one that is currently at the top of my writing mix.
The song for this spotlight is “3 am” by Gregory Alan Isakov. So without further adieu, I hope you enjoy!
This was beautiful – need to add it to my Pandora play list. I can see why you find this music inspirational to your writing. Music connects to our soul and we find a thoughtful rest when we are listening to music that emotionally moves us. Love it!
I completely agree 🙂 And Pandora is great…you get to discover songs and artists you never would have heard.
So cool, Joanne! My husband and I enjoy folk music as well, though I listen to other genres more. It definitely has a unique sound to it and can be both hauntingly beautiful and light at the same time. 🙂
You described it perfectly, Lindsay 🙂
Enjoyed this song–lyrics are well-thought. I really need to make more time for listening to folk. Since I’m from WV, you’d think I’d listen to it all the time! Grin.
LOL, Heather. I’m from So California so I think around here, we’re supposed to listen to Ryan Seacrest. I think it goes without saying that I don’t 😉
I loved this! So, have you ever watched Justified? Is that kind of like what your book are like minus the language and gratuitous sex? LOL
I have never seen Justified…now I will have to go see what it is 😉
So much heart in his music! Thank you for sharing.
