This week is the big American Christian Fiction Writers conference, and it’s my first year to get to go! The first year I’d hoped to go I was too pregnant to fly. They literally would have banished me from the airplane. The year after that, I had a baby in arms which made the whole traveling to a conference a wee bit of a hurdle.
So this is the year!
It’s going to be a busy week I hear. And based on what my schedule is starting to look like, I believe it! I’m looking forward to getting to see writing friends from across the country.
I’m ALSO looking forward to FINALLY getting to meet my agent in person. She was among the first to know when our third child was on the way and she was the one texting with me at the Christy Awards, but still, we’ve yet to meet in person! That’s going to be a big highlight.
I’m also crazy excited about rooming with Sarah Sundin. She’s a gem and one of my favorite writers. That’s going to be so fun! (I’m going to try not to frighten her 😀 )
Another part of the week I’m really looking forward to is getting to visit with some of the folks from my publishing house, WaterBrook Multnomah.Â
They’ve arranged a special dinner on Saturday night that I’m super excited about (I’m a homeschooling mommy of 3 who lives in ye old wilderness. And I get to go out somewhere!! 🙂 )
So for the next two days, I’ll be packing my bags, trying to figure out what I’m going to wear, and celebrating the fact that my one-sheet is DONE!
For the first time in my life, I’m no longer nervous about getting lost…now I’m just ready to go and get to spend those days visiting with the dear folks that make the Christian writing industry SO special. ACFW… two days and counting!
Can’t wait to see you, Joanne! 🙂
Me either! I’m so looking forward to seeing you!!
Woohoo! I feel like I’ve already met you, but now I get to meet you for real. Cannot wait!!
I do too!! See you soon! 🙂 🙂
Can’t WAIT to see you!
Me too! We’ll get to hug again, this time on the other side 😉
YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!! There’s nothing like it! I can’t wait!!!
Carol, that’s what I keep hearing!! Very excited 🙂 See you there!
Woot woot! Cannot wait to have coffee with you!
Me too! And I need to message you 🙂
So excited to see you and spend a little time together Thursday night! It will be an exciting conference.

Joanne, I’m so excited for you! Your first ACFW conference will be awesome! I’ve never been myself, but I’ve heard from many others how much fun they are. I hope it lives up to your expectations. 🙂 Enjoy meeting your agent and others along the way.
Blessings,
Andrea
Andrea,
Thank you! I’m really, really excited. I just know that one of these years will be YOUR first year to attend. You’ll have so much to look forward to. Keep up the good work 🙂
For the first time in my life, I wish I was an author! Have a great trip!
Aw, Melissa, I know just what you mean 🙂 It’s a special group of people. They really ought to have an author/reader conference!
Enjoy every minute, Joanne:) Praying for you and other attendees. ACFW conf. is really a memorable event!
Thank you so much Laura. You will be very missed!
SO excited for you, Joanne!
I agree with Melissa – we, the readers, sure would love to attend a conference in which we could meet all of our favorite authors!
I have been reading some of the one-sheets writers have posted on their blogs, of the prayers, & other preparations they have made for ACFW. Have also been very inspired to hear of the prayer room, worship sessions throughout each day, & the Harp & Bowl at ACFW.
All of this speaks to me of true commitment to God by the writers/authors – through their writing, & that humbles me & speaks to my heart. Saying a prayer for all authors/writers at ACFW, that it will be a fruitful, stress-free, restorative, time with your sisters-in-Christ.

Bonnie,
What encouraging words! Yes…those one sheets… they are a big deal and surprisingly, not easy to put together! I had a lot of fun working on mine, but they are also a bit intimidating 🙂
Thank you for the prayers and sweet words. I’m ready for a little trip and know that I’m going to be missing my family, too!
