A writers’ conference –the place where writers gather to talk shop, meet with publishing professionals including editors and agents … and have some fun seeing friends that we only get to connect with through the internet. It’s a great and special time.
If you’re a writer you may have heard of the Mount Hermon Christian Writers’ Conference. Held each spring in the beautiful redwoods near Santa Cruz, it’s one of the loveliest, most relaxing writer’s conferences around. I’ve attended in the past and absolutely loved it.
This year, I have the privelage of being on staff as one of the fiction mentors for the Head Start program. The crew working behind the scenes to prepare the conference is downright awesome and in just a few weeks, it will all pay off when we can all gather together with writers from all walks of life.
Right now, I’m being assigned a handful of fiction writers that I will be mentoring. Leading up to the conference, we’ll be working behind the scenes on a few pages of their fiction. When we gather at the conference, we’ll get to spend about two days in a small group setting where we discuss and work on everything from the art of storytelling to the ins and outs of the business..basically…anything they want to know and learn! I’m super excited and if going to a writers’ conference has ever been on your radar, I hope you’ll check out Mount Hermon and if you are heading there this spring, I can’t wait to see you!
This looks wonderful. I am not a writer but am a fan of excellent Christian literature. What a wonderful opportunity!
Hi Nettie! I truly feel so honored to get to be there this year. Thanks for the warm wishes! And happy reading all those good books! 🙂
Thanks for sharing the Mount Hermon Christian Writers’ Conference with your followers, Joanne. We’re so excited to have you on the faculty next month.
Mona, It’s my pleasure! I’m looking forward to seeing you there and am so very honored to be a part of the faculty this year.
I can’t think of a better person to mentor authors! So glad you have this opportunity!
Aw, thanks friend! I’m still hoping we will meet up at a conference one year. Otherwise, I’m still coming to your house. 🙂
