Greetings all!
I’ve been working on a new video tutorial – sourdough biscuits! And I’m calling them “for beginners” because I really am a beginner and it will likely show in the video. Just a bit. 😉
If you keep sourdough in your kitchen, I hope you’ll give these a try and if you’ve yet to work with sourdough, you can find the step by step guide in the video description on Youtube. Happy baking friends and if you make these, DO let me know how they turn out!
Biscuit ingredients:
2c. flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c sourdough starter
1/2 milk
1 stick of butter
Bake time: 13 minutes @425
Love this! I am going to try these as soon as I find the recipe and develop your starter. [Your new food fan girl]
Hello Wendy! Such a treat to have you visit my blog!! I should have added the link directly to the post. I’ll go ahead and email it to you to make it extra easy to find!
I would like the recipe too and… you are delightful.
Thanks, Kathleen! The recipe is on the youtube description but I should have added it here. I’ll do that!
Did I miss how to begin the sourdough starter and feeding it? Thanks.
Kathleen – here is that link. 🙂

Joanne, you are so adorable! I loved this, and now I’m hungry! 🙂 As another writer who also loves to bake, we have yet one more thing in common.
Just today I read somewhere–online or in a magazine?–to make biscuits square like you did, so you don’t have to re-roll the dough, which makes it tough. So how timely to find your video tonight. I love anything sourdough, so you have inspired me–thanks!
You’ve also inspired me to get back to posting on my website. I need to get brave and do a video now and then. Thanks, my friend!
Well thanks Judy! Isn’t baking such fun? I confess that I like it way more than cooking. 😉 Oh, I’m so glad to hear about the square biscuits! I just did it one day because I didn’t have any kind of cutter that was working. And yes… so true. You don’t have to re-roll the dough which really does help! Thanks for visiting me here. 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing you in just a few months!
I’m with you, Joanne, in that I’m more fond of baking, although I do enjoy cooking too, especially making soup in the winter. (Besides, soup needs cornbread or muffins, etc., to go with it, right?)
I still think it’s funny that I read about square biscuits twice in one day! 🙂
Yes, I so look forward to seeing you at Mount Hermon!
I’ve had a sourdough starter jar since last Christmas and thanks to you am now inspired to actually START my starter. I’m with Wendy. These biscuits will be on my baking list once the starter is ready. Do you have a favorite bread recipe?
Hi Kathleen! It’s so much fun having you visit me here! I still remember when we got to sit together at the Christy Awards. 🙂 I’m just thrilled that you’ll be putting that jar to good use! Especially in time for Thanksgiving. You know…I wish I had a favorite bread recipe and I’ve worked with several that I liked, but I never make sourdough bread very often, though I wish I did. Do you happen to have one?
