Happy April, friends!
My how the time has flown. It’s been a few months since my last blog post — the reason for that? I’ve been hard at work on the second book in the Blackbird Mountain series and oh…my…goodness. It was an adventure through and through. My agent just finished reading it last night so it is definitely becoming real. 🙂 I can’t wait to share more with you down the road — including the title which we just settled on a few days back!! More on that in the coming weeks, as well as so many quiet joys to share with you about what God has been doing in my life these last few months. Some deep stories of the heart to share and I dearly look forward to putting all these words to paper. But for now, it seems like a good day to simply settle in, pour some lemonade and catch up. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our first visit together here at the new website than with a book giveaway for Sons of Blackbird Mountain!

Joanne, I’ve been a forever fan of yours since your very first book, which I have read twice, by the way. I’ve read everything you’ve written. All very powerful.
Susan, I can’t tell you what a blessing you are and it touches my heart to remember how you’ve been there since day one. You’re a treasure.
Yes!! I’ve read the Lady and the Lionheart and loved it! And forced all my sisters to read it too. I always promote books I love and this is one of them. Can’t wait to read this one I’m sure it will be amazing!
haha! Forcing your sisters to read my books definitely gets you a gold star, LOL. Thanks bunches for reading, Brooke, and for the smile!
I remember the first book of yours that I read, I ‘HAD’ to read the whole series, Cadence of Grace, loved it.
P.S. I tried 4 times to leave a comment on your Instagram (on 2 different browsers even) and kept getting this message that:
This page isn’t working
If the problem continues, contact the site owner.

I clicked the ‘reload’ button and it wouldn’t do anything, I couldn’t even click the like button, got the same message, yep, tried that 3-4 times too.

Wendy,
Thank you for reading the Cadence of Grace. It truly means so much! And I’m so sorry for the instagram troubles. Are you trying on a computer or a phone/tablet? So long as you are logged in via an Instagram account, it should allow you, but I believe it’s easier to comment on a phone or tablet, though I’m not sure as I’ve never tried on a computer. I hope it works for you and if not, you are definitely entered here!
I have read three of your books, my favorite being The Lady and the Lionheart. I just love that title too!! Can’t wait to read this one as well! 🙂
Marissa, thank you for spending that time with Charlie and Ella. We’re ALL blessed 😀

I read The Lady and the Lionheart and I also really enjoyed your story in The Message From A Bottle collection! Looking forward to this new book.
Rachel, It’s so neat to know you read The Swelling Sea. That collection is very dear to my heart. It was such a pleasure working with those ladies and writing a story set in my own CA. Thanks for reading it!
I’ve read three of your books and have the rest (including “Sons of Blackbird Mountain”) on my TBR list. I first came across your books when I was living in Idyllwild and the local library had a section on their shelves featuring your books. 😊
Jan,
I love hearing about that connection. Waving to you from Idyllwild. I was at that library just yesterday 😉 So glad we were able to connect that way and for your visit here today.
I’ve read all your books and love them all!! Can’t wait for this new one ❤
Yay, Renee! You’re a reading champ! I am really excited for this one to come your way.
Your novella This Quiet Sky really touched my heart ~ I loved the strength in the midst of tragedy in it. Looking forward to this new series and adding it to my TBR list for sure. 🙂

Terri,
Thank you for being such a bright spot whenever I see your name. Thankful for you and to have met you through your sweet niece. Now for us to plan that get together! 😉
The lady and the Lionheart was so original! I liked the setting of the book and learning about circumstances of the characters in the book! Can’t wait to read more from you!
Brittany, that means so much that the characters and setting where meaningful. Thank you for reading and for visiting today.

The lady and the lionheart is one of my all time favorite books. It left such an impression on me in how blessed i truly am. Cant wait to read this new one!
Oh wow, Gayle. This truly touches my heart for the story to reach that deep place in your own. Thank you dearly for having walked through those pages with me.
The Lady and the Lionheart goes down as one of my favorite books of all times. In fact I wish I hadn’t already read it, just so I can experience it all over again like the first time. It was a wonder! And This Quiet Sky was really just so sweet! So simple, but just so heartbreakingly innocent and sweet.
Goodness, Ntebo, what a treasure that is to me. I can hardly tell you. Biggest thanks for reading those stories. You all are truly what gives purpose to each and every page.
I’m looking forward to reading this new book! The last story I read of yours was the Novella in the Message in a Bottle collection!
Trisha, I’m so eager for the Norgaard’s story to make it’s way into your hands. And oh! It’s always special to know someone has read the Message in a Bottle collection. That story was a real challenge to write for me personally – but so rewarding in the end. (isn’t it just the way God so often works?!)
I haven’t read any of your books yet. But I’ve continuously heard high praise about The Lady and The Lionheart that it’s on my TBR list. Thanks for the giveaway.
Chanel, Thanks for visiting! So lovely to meet you 🙂
I read and fell in love with The Lady and the Lionheart when it first came out! I mean, Charlie. Need I say more?? That book is one of my all time favorites and I decided shortly after starting it that I would buy any book that you release! I’m incredibly excited to read Sons of Blackbird Mountain.
Hehe, Steffani, oh yes…you need say no more as far as Charlie goes. 😉 I’m so glad his story touched your heart! And wow…thank you so much for your support. It means more than I can say. I pray Sons of Blackbird Mountain will be a blessing to you as Lionheart was.

Shantelle, This fills my heart with such gladness. Thank you for your precious words and for spending that time with me and all these characters. It’s a true treasure to me.
I read The Lady and the Lionheart and it was such an amazing book! Your way with words, and ability to have the faith-filled book unfold was so inspiring. Absolutely one of my favorite books I read last year!
Laura, thank you so much for reading it!
YAY!!! SUPER excited for this book I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! As a teen it’s hard to find good truly Christian novels especially romance AND having them BEAUTIFULLY written but you are DEFINABLE one of those who I can read! I have the Cadence of Grace series, To Get To You (I really loved this one!!❤️), The Lady And The Lionheart (this was my first of yours that I read and it was magnificent!), and This Quiet Sky (this one was so beautiful but it also was SUPER SAD LIKE I WAS CRYING SO HARD AFTER IT! So bittersweet!!) Can’t wait to read this one!! Thank you for all that you do your books really inspire me!
Jessie, that is so wonderful to know! I find it harder to write for teens than for adults, due to the extra care needed to weave a story and a romance with a balance that will edify and not cause harm. As for TQS- sounds like we were both sobbing! HUGS to you for reading that one and all the others <3
Hi Joanne, I have read and so enjoyed many of your books. I even made the butter with my granddaughters. Love the name Sons of Blackbird Mountain. Haven’t had the opportunity to read yet, but will whether I win it or not. Blessings to you. Also, love that another of my favorite authors commented here!
AH! You made one of the recipes. Wasn’t the butter fun?! So simple. I’ll have to make it again in your honor 🙂 I’m so delighted you are looking forward to reading Sons of Blackbird Mountain – one way or another. Thank you for that kind of support.
The book is on hold when it’s released. I’ll have the opportunity now that I have to have another shoulder surgery. Bummer, I love spring and planting. However, I have a whole list of new releases that I wouldn’t have had time to read. I’ll just have to sit outside with a pile of books instead of mulch! Blessings!
Joanne, I am a new reader friend 🙂 I recently purchased The Lady and The Lionheart and am looking forward to reading it as I have heard sooo many incredible things about it!! Thank you for the chance to win Sons of Blackbird Mountain!
Alison,
Just smiling to have you here! It’s always a joy to meet a new reader friend and I’m thankful you stopped by for a visit. And thank you for adding Lionheart to your bookshelf! I pray the story will be a blessing to you.

Kit, I love hearing when books get passed along and for one to go from mother to daughter is even more special. Warmest wishes and happy reading to you both!
Doing this for my friend Sydnee Kemp above lol. She and I both love your books! Thanks for being an inspiration!

Holly, Charlie and Ella are sending you a big, big thanks 😀
Just love The Lady and the Lionheart!! It is definitely a favorite of mine. I can’t wait to read your newest book, which looks very intriguing!
Haley, I’m so delighted that you enjoyed Lionheart! And thank you for your sweet words about Sons of Blackbird Mountain.
I’ve read most of your books, starting with Be Still My Soul. This is the first book that I read as an adult where I was strongly tempted to look at the ending before I got there. My feelings for Lonnie and Gideon were so strong. I felt that they were REAL! I resisted and read through with out peaking but it was a challenge. You’ve had me hooked on your work since then. God bless.
Oh wow, Tamm, that’s so encouraging to hear! I smile, too, to think of you being tempted to peek. That one was quite the emotional roller coaster! Thanks so, so much for reading the series and for visiting. 🙂
The Lady and the Lionheart is one of my very top favorite books EVER!!!!! Can’t wait to read this one!!!!
Ah, thanks Rachel! Sending you a big hug!
I guess I’ll be a considered a new reader! Just a small town book work here trying to discover some new amazing authors and your books sounds so incredible!!! I can’t wait to read them!!!
Alexandra, it’s always a joy to meet a new reader 🙂 I’m so delighted that you stopped by. Wishing you happy reading!!
I haven’t read any of your books before, but this one sounds interesting!
Thank you so much Tiffany, and welcome!
I’ve read This Quiet Sky. I’m excited to read Sons of Blackbird Mountain!
Thank you, Caryl! I hope you enjoy meeting the Norgaard family. 🙂
I’ve read all your books and loved every one!
Thanks, friend! You’ve been such a blessing.
I’m a new reader friend! Never read your books YET! I’m looking forward to reading this book and what a beautiful cover!
Waving wildly to you, Hannah. Such a delight to get to meet you. 🙂
Be Still My Soul is the first one of your books that I read. I was hooked!
Phyllis, thank you for being there from the start. <3 You've been such a faithful reader!
I’m a new reader friend, although The Lady and the Lionheart is waiting for me on my shelf!
Heidi, So nice seeing you here! And thanks for tucking L&L on your shelf. Hope your TBR is less daunting than mine! 😀 😉
I absolutely loved “Lady and the Lionheart” — the first I read of your books! I’ve also enjoyed “This Quiet Sky”. Looking forward to “Sons of Blackbird Mountain.” Winning a copy would be awesome!
Lynn,
Thank you so much for having read those books. Each and every time…it’s a blessing and makes the whole journey and challenge of writing a book worth it. I’m praying that Sons of Blackbird Mountain will touch your heart in the same way.
I have not read any of your books yet, but have only heard good things!
Patty, that’s always nice to know! I’m so glad you stopped in for a visit. 🙂
I have ALL of your precious writings so very ready for Sons of Blackbird Mountain!! Thank you for this opportunity to win a pre-release ARC copy. Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House
Kathleen, Thank you for always being the blessing that you are.
I’m thrilled to pieces to embark on a new adventure (aka…your books!). How does each one get better? How is that possible? I’m utterly thankful that our heavenly Papa is blessing your socks off by gracing the world with your gift of storytelling! You can betcha I’m going to be needing a stack of these books for my Christmas givings….and myself! XO
Ah, Tami, you are so much fun! I still have and treasure some of the keepsakes that came from you – beaded bookmarks and little handkerchiefs. And ooh, boy. I would be delighted to help you stuff some stockings this Christmas 😉
Though I have several of your books on my TBR list, I have yet to read one. So I am a new to you reader and would love to read this book. My list is slowly dwindling down so I should be able to read one of yours on the list soon. Maybe this one. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone.
Debbie, Honored to be on your TBR list and I’m so glad you popped in for the giveaway. Thanks for visiting!!
I love gushing about your books because they are wonderful! Looking forward to reading more 😊.
Stacey, I love that you love gushing! HUGS!
It’s so lovely to hear you sounding … refreshed. At peace? I don’t know exactly what the word is that I’m looking for. I loved This Quiet Sky and the novella in the Message in a Bottle collection, but I must admit I’ve been hoarding Lady and the Lionheart, waiting for the ‘right time’ to read it! I’ve heard so many good things about it, I think I’ll miss savouring the anticipation once I’ve read it! Lol!
SOOOOO looking forward to this new series!
Katie – you are so sweet and intuitive. I do feel more at peace in many ways. It’s been an emotional season with lots of challenges but God has been faithful each and every step. He is showing me farther and wider his love than I ever saw before all of this and also showing me the ways that I can grow.
As for that hoarding…I love that. Can’t way until the day you crack open the cover! Keep me posted. 😉
The Lion and The Lady Heart was indescribably wonderful! But I first read The Cadence of Grace series. Very moving. Can’t wait for new book! Blessings
Oh, Pam, thank you so much. Thank you for reading and for visiting!

Thank you so much, Nancy!
I have read and loved The Lady and the Lionheart! It’s still my favorite book that I have read in the last year. Can’t wait to read this new one! And love that cover!
Ashley, I can hardly tell you how much that means. And I’m so delighted you love the cover of Blackbird Mountain. The team at Thomas Nelson did such a phenomenal job!
I am one of the few people who’ve never read your books. I definitely need to change this! Thanks for the chance!!
Connie, thanks for stopping by! So glad you found the giveaway 🙂
I have not had the pleasure yet of reading one of your books. Would love to win a copy!
Got you entered, Amanda! Thanks for visiting!

I can’t wait to read this since The Lady and the Lionheart is one of my all-time favorite books ever!!! 💛
Oh wow, Teresa, Thank you!
I read The Lady and the Lionheart last summer. After I finished it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I wasn’t able to read another book so I read it again! I have been recommending it to all my reader friends. I have since read your Cadence of Grace series and loved them as well. I am eagerly awaiting your next two books!
Oh my goodness, Patsy, you gave me the biggest smile. Thank you for everything!
I’m really looking forward to reading Sons of Blackbird Mountain. I think I’ve read all of your books, unless I’ve missed a novella. I love your books! Thanks for the chance to win one of the ARCs.
Pam, You have been such a faithful and encouraging reader friend from the start. So very thankful for you.
I’ve read all of your books more than once. Love them all 😁. So excited for Sons of Blackbird Mountain!
HUGS to you, Abigail!
I think I’ve read them all but LOVED “Lady and the Lionheart.” Wanted to read it again right after I finished and that’s not the norm for me!! Love your character development and prose. Felt like I was at the circus with them. Keep writing!
Lindsey, to think of setting you outside that norm is a HUGE honor. Thank you!
Each one of your books have been a real treasure and privilege to read. My favorites so far are The Lady and the Lionheart & This quiet Sky. I think they have touched a very special part in me that make me different somehow. God keep inspiring your beautiful heart and soul!
Eraida, I can hardly tell you how meaningful that is…to know those stories moved you that way. Truly, this is such a treasure to me. Thank you.
Thanks for having a giveaway.
I have 6 of your book on my Kindle and 1 audible. Be Still My Soul was the first book I read of yours. I loved your novella in The Message in A Bottle collection too.
Andrea, I’m so honored that you’ve read those books and it gives me an extra smile to know you’ve got one on audio. Each and everyone of those audio productions was such a special experience. Thankful for some truly talented narrators! 🙂
The Lady and the Lionheart was a birthday gift last year and I absolutely loved it! Those characters just stole my heart and I was completely wrapped up in the story – so of course I bought it for my sister for Christmas several months later 🙂 I can’t wait to read this one!
Melody,
It fills my heart with joy to know the L&L was wrapped up for your birthday and that you then tucked it under the tree for your sister. <3 It's always fun to get new-to-us stories that way, isn't it!? Thanks for visiting and for your sweet comment!
Loved The Lady and the Lionheart!
Thank you, Terresa!
I’ve had the pleasure of reading The Lady and the Lionheart 3 times and counting (kindle, paperback, and audible) #readerbliss 😍
Oh my WORD, Beth! You’ve made even Charlie blush 😉 THANK YOU bunches for reading (and listening!!)
I still haven’t had a chance to read any of your books yet but I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things about you!!
A joy meeting you, Karen! Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi 😀
I am so excited for this book! I became a huge fan of your writing after The Lady and The Lionhart (which of course was absolutely wonderful). Gotta love Charlie. 🙂
Thank you so much, Anne! Charlie’s tipping his hat to you as well 😉
Love your books! Can’t wait!
Thank you, Rachel!!
I have read lady and the Lionheart. I also have a couple more of yours waiting in my tbr stack to read. I cannot wait for this book to come out!
Rachel,
Such a pleasure to have those stories in your TBR. I hope you have some fun summer reading coming up! I’m hoping to do the same 😉
Joanne, I love all your books! I am looking forward to reading this one also. You are one of my favorite authors.
Oh wow, Doris, I am so honored by that. Thank you dearly!
Joanne, the first book I read of yours was To Get to You–I fell absolutely in love with it and read it twice (though some parts over and over again.) Then my friend (fellow author Amanda Barratt!) recommended The Lady and the Lionheart, and I loved that one too. Your vulnerable and authentic characters who find tender friends to help them warm my heart. 🙂
Schuyler,
That means more than I can say! To Get to You was such a risky little underdog of a book for this historical author… so it means a LOT to hear that you enjoyed it so much. Thank you!! And my thanks to Amanda (!!) for recommending Lionheart – and for your sweet and encouraging words! HUGS to you both!
Yay! I’m so excited for a new book from you! (I’m pretty sure I’ve read all of yours, even the novella collection!
(I tried to request a copy from NetGalley, but they denied it, with one possibility being that you’d had too many requests – I hope for that one for you!)
You’re a dream, Teddy! And oh…so sorry about that Netgalley disappointment, but you are SO kind to see it in that bright light. I hope that’s the reason too and doubly so, will be praying that the wait will be worth it when this story finds its way to you. <3
I’m looking to be a new Joanne Bischof reader!

Joanne, you already know I am one of your most devoted and enthusiastic fans, and I feel so blessed to also call you “friend.” I’m so grateful God connected us some years back. I enjoyed skimming through the comments–and all your sweet responses!–and I realized I still need to read your story in the novella collection, which I need to go find in my book bags of TBR choices. 🙂
I hope and pray all your wonderful books will find their way into the hands of many more readers, and I will keep recommending them to help make that happen! I can’t wait to read this latest one!

Hi Joanne,
I loved Lady and the Lionheart. Would love the chance to read/review this one as well.
Thank you so much, Cynthia! I hope a copy will be coming your way soon!
I just read The Lady and Lionheart a couple of months ago! I had it on my Kindle forever. I bought it a while ago because I had heard so many amazing things about it. But I put off reading it, I think, because I was worried that Charlie might not really live up to all the wonderful things I had heard about him. I needn’t have worried! Charlie and the whole book were both incredible and I was only sad that I had waited so long to read it and that the book had to come to an end. I am so looking forward to the first of the Blackbird Mountain series! I’ve recommended it for our library system to purchase for Overdrive. Whether or not I win a copy, I will be finding a way to read it!
Julie,
To think of you putting off the reading of the book gives me a heart-smile. I understand those worries! ( I have them myself with Charlie and people. 🙂 ) I’m so glad it was worth the wait for you. That is the best outcome a gal could hope for. Thank you for spending that time in those pages and for looking ahead to Blackbird Mountain. I pray this story will have a special blessing in it for you.
I loved, The Lady and the Lionheart, such a lovely book and I see you write for teens as well. I would love to win a copy of your newest!
