Gideon O’Riley has two wives–but he doesn’t know it.
(“read it with a box of Kleenex” they say) š
As I sat down to write this post, I got a little worried that I didn’t have anything fancy planned or super clever to say. I just have a book that I pray will bless people. That it will show them God’s love. In “Be Still My Soul” I hoped to show what HE could build out of nothing. This desire continues with “Though My Heart is Torn”.
My prayer is that this story blesses you and in wanting to find the words,Ā I grabbed the book and flipped to the back:
m
This was by far the most challenging story I’ve written. I’ve prayed over these words time and time again that they would be nothing less but honoring to God and that any piece that fell short would be trimmed away. At times it’s been overwhelming to tell the story of a scoundrel, the sins of his past and the ways he and those around him were affected by it. I can’t tell you how many times I saw this manuscript as crazy but to hear from my editor that it was “brave” filled me with the courage to keep going–and as a dear friend shared with me, “Brave is not easy, but brave and courageous is the atmosphere where the Lord says He is in your midst and with you wherever you go.” (See Joshua 1:9)
m
Today is such a special day–that some kind of wonderful. THANK YOU for celebrating with me!Ā

Dairy Milk Easter goodies were half price in Walmart. I actually held a piece of one in the air and said “Here’s to you, Joanne!” Then I ate it. Mmmm.
yay! I’m so honored!
Hooray!! I feel like we should have a big Appalachian celebration. Strike up the fiddles and mandolins! Break out the scones!
When a book as touching, as heartfelt, as significant and lingering as this hits the shelves (and readers’ hearts!), it is truly a day to rejoice.
Thank you, sweet friend, for all of yourself that you pour into your words. Such an incredible blessing!
Music!? Scones!? Oh, friend you are the best. That sounds like so much fun, especially with you my friend. š Thank you for your sweet words and your friendship and for {{KS}} emoticons and “10 minutes of uselessness with Amanda and Joanne” I think I’m ready for another round! <3
Hahaha, what are {{KS}} friends for, if not 10(recurring) minutes of uselessness with Amanda and Joanne? š

I’m on deadline, Joanne … but this book is calling my name. It’s only by sheer will power (and by hiding the book) that I am resisting reading it.) Celebrating with you!
Beth, I had such a good chuckle over you hiding the book. Too funny. I would have to do the same with one of yours! My MIL still has my copy of Wish You Were Here and I don’t think she’s ever going to give it back š
Just say the word, and I’ll send you another copy of WYWH!
